Of Despair

Fox News reports on yet another "human trafficking" scare, this time involving fraud in cross-border paid citizenship marriages in the EU. Asian or African grooms lure East European women to the west, obtain citizenship, and then discard their ill-gotten booty.

They bury the lede though. The concluding thought:

Yet Balogova admitted that she would be willing to take her chances in Britain again.

"I didn't want to come back," she said flatly. "It was a hundred times better for me in England."

The penumbra of Communism is dark and loathsome. The easier it is for victims of state-sponsored violence to escape their torment, the more euvoluntary the marriage market will become. This is a migration policy issue wretchedly disguised as a human trafficking issue.
