Against Regret

New Dub-MOE Forbes piece on CO, WA pot [marginal] legalization.

Remember what the Butthole Surfers had to say on regret:
"Daddy?"

"Yes, son?"

"What does regret mean?"

"Well, son, a funny thing about regret is that it's better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done. And by the way, if you see your mom this weekend, be sure to tell her SATAN, SATAN, SATAN!!!"
Drug prohibition is predicated on a regret prophylactic: protecting some people from imagined regrets is more important than the pleasure other people give up. And this mission is so vitally important that we turn police forces into de facto highway robbers and systematically violate the 4th Amendment in its pursuit.

The law is an ass. I'm glad to see the median voter in Washington and Colorado making at least some attempt to kick it.
