H. Gintis on Group Selection and Altruism

  1. I strongly recommend Stuart West's video from that same debate: http://vimeo.com/8202768

It is a great summary of the argument against group selection (or more particularly, against the usefulness of multi-level selection as a concept). The angle is quite different from that of Dawkins et al.

The discussion is also interesting. Among other things, Gintis reveals that he is supporting a version of group selection stronger than most of the multi-level selection supporting biologists: http://vimeo.com/8823734

Do you have suggestions on where we could find more examples of this phenomenon?
